Happy Birthday Heave Ho!!!!!

Hey hey y'all, just dropping a line to let you know about some great upcoming events. I'll be at the GA Literary Festival in Augusta on Nov. 7th, and then I'll be right here in Savannah on Nov. 14th for the Children's Book Festival- which just happens to mark the year anniversary of Heave Ho!!!!!! It's been a great first year as a DIY publisher, and the Heave Ho! crew and I are so incredibly grateful for all of the support, encouragement, and all around good vibes that everyone has been providing. We've moved a whole lot of books, traveled all over the eastern U.S., and shouted "Heave Ho!" with many a group of youngsters. Now as we approach a year in action, we've just signed with Small Press United (a subsidiary of Independent Publishers Group) for distribution- which will greatly broaden our reach and accessibility, and I'm already digging into the next book- so be on the lookout for some teaser posts in the coming months.

Click on either of the posters below to find out more about the festivals.

...and here are a few shots from the Early Learning Conference in Spring Hill, FL a couple weeks ago.

Fay B. Kaigler Children's Book Festival April 8-10, 2015

Our first stop on the road was Hattiesburg, MS for the Fay B. Kaigler Children's Book Festival at Southern Mississippi University.

We got into town late on the 7th, and set up camp at a campground just outside of town. It was pretty nice sleeping out among all the frogs and crickets.

These pictures give a little glimpse of the happenings over the course of the Fest.

Ms. Janice is such a good soul. We look forward to working with her more in the future.

The images below are from the De Grummond Children's Literature Collection. We of course wanted to see all those original artworks and process pieces. We missed the tour, but luckily Ms. Amanda was so kind that she skipped her lunch to give a special tour. Enjoy!

These Ezra Jack Keats pieces are amazing in person! So much texture and bold design, these pics don't so them much justice.

Savannah Children's Book Festival 2014

Heave Ho! is officially out and in the world! The 2014 Savannah Children's Book Festival on November 15th was its debut, and quite a successful debut I must say. We sold a lot of books and gave away a ton of Worm stickers. Now it's time to plug away online and try to spread Heave Ho! all across the interwebs.
